Aluminium Sliding Door Applications in Large Projects

High-Rise Residential Tower Balconies

Aluminium sliding door systems for high-rise tower balcony access in large residential developments. 2-track and 3-track systems for balcony widths from 2 to 5 metres. Wind load compliance to IS 875 Part 3 for project-specific wind zones — structural calculations supplied for authority submission. Weather-sealed for high-floor wind-driven rain exposure.

Hospital Corridor and Ward Access

Aluminium sliding doors for hospital corridor partitions, ward entry points and pharmacy access counters. Heavy-duty roller systems rated for high-cycle use in busy hospital environments. No floor track option available for infection-control zones — top-hung sliding systems leave the floor completely clear for wheelchair and trolley access.

Shopping Mall Entrance Partitions

Multi-track aluminium sliding door systems for shopping mall entrance zones, food court separators and anchor store access partitions. 4-track wide-span systems for mall entrance applications requiring 4 to 6 metre clear openings. Integrated with automatic door operators for high-footfall entrance applications.

Institutional Building Balcony and Terrace Access

Aluminium sliding doors for IIT campus residential buildings, hotel balcony access and institutional building terrace connections. ECBC-compliant DGU sliding systems for air-conditioned institutional buildings. Full engineering documentation for campus authority and institutional PMC submission.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between 2-track, 3-track and 4-track sliding doors?

The number of tracks refers to the number of parallel rails in the frame. A 2-track system carries 2 panels that each slide to one side. A 3-track carries 3 panels, a 4-track carries 4 — wider apertures require more tracks and panels. For balconies up to 3 metres, 2-track is standard. For 4–6 metre openings in malls or institutional buildings, 3 or 4-track systems are specified.

Can aluminium sliding doors be top-hung without a floor track?

Yes. Top-hung sliding door systems are available for hospital and institutional applications where a clean floor surface is required — ICU zones, pharmacy counters and any area where floor tracks create a hygiene or wheelchair accessibility issue. Top-hung systems carry the full panel weight from the header track with no bottom rail.

Are your sliding doors IS 875 wind load compliant?

Yes. All aluminium sliding door systems are designed to IS 875 Part 3 wind load requirements for the project wind zone. For high-rise tower balcony applications, we supply structural calculations for frame and glazing for authority submission. Critical for projects in wind zones III and IV across coastal and elevated locations in India.

Can sliding doors be specified with double glazing for ECBC compliance?

Yes. Our aluminium sliding door systems are available with double glazed units (DGU) for ECBC 2017 thermal performance compliance. U-value and SHGC documentation is supplied for building energy submissions. DGU sliding systems are specified for air-conditioned buildings targeting BEE and IGBC certification.

What documentation do you supply for sliding door projects?

We supply AutoCAD shop drawings (plan, elevation, sections at track and frame connections), wind load calculations to IS 875 Part 3, hardware schedules and finish specifications. U-value calculations for DGU systems are supplied on request for energy performance submissions.

Track Configurations and Application Matching

2-track sliding door systems have two rails — one fixed panel, one sliding panel. This is the standard for residential balcony doors and narrow commercial openings up to approximately 1,800mm clear width. 3-track systems add a third rail and panel, allowing a wider opening to be covered with a relatively compact frame depth — common for hotel room balconies, serviced apartments and wide residential openings. 4-track systems provide two sliding panels per side, covering the widest openings and maximising ventilation area when fully open.

Panel weight increases with track count — heavier rolling systems and higher-capacity tracks are required for 4-track systems. All our multi-track systems use SS 304 bottom rollers with bearing-grade nylon inserts, rated for the panel weight and a minimum 100,000 cycle operating life.

Weather Sealing and IS 875 Compliance

Sliding doors on high-rise facades must resist wind-driven rain infiltration to IS 875 Part 3 design wind pressure for the building location and height. Our sliding door frame profiles incorporate multi-point weather seals — pile seals on the sliding panel perimeter and rubber compression seals at the track end stops. For projects above approximately G+15 in Wind Zone IV or V areas, we recommend wind pressure testing data for the specific frame and glazing combination. We can provide project-specific test reports for large commercial orders on request.
